Lexi + Haleigh’s Bookstore Engagement Session

Cozy Bookstore Photoshoot | Marietta, GA

Atlanta Engagement Photographer // Georgia wedding Photographer

After moving to the Atlanta area from California, one of the biggest adjustments was, admittedly, the winter weather! Don’t get me wrong, I will always be of the mindset that there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices (okay fine, sometimes it is bad weather, but you get the idea); I mean, I love winter clothing, I love the snow, and I love not sweating from just stepping outside my front door. That said, I missed California’s almost constant dose of sunshine and, as a photographer, it’s a lot harder to convince people to do photos outside when the weather isn’t great…it’s just the truth.

So when I started talking with Lexi and Haleigh about locations for their engagement session, I was initially stumped. I was new to the area and while I do know of some incredible spots for all the other times of year, finding a place for a winter session that was going to be fun and speak to these two as a couple was challenging. Then one day, I was walking around downtown Marietta and saw this bookstore, The Reading Attic. I walked inside, immediately shielded from the cold winter air and enveloped by the warmth of the store’s heating. Once I was in the main part of the bookstore, my little photographer brain was exploding in all the best ways…it was ADORABLE! Not only did I want to spend the rest of my day there with a cup of coffee, I immediately knew it would be perfect for a session. I texted Haleigh and Lexi and asked if they were readers and when they replied and said they were, I suggested this spot for their session. And so this amazing photoshoot was born!

The folks over at The Reading Attic were super accommodating of us being there and we spent time in each room, making use of the cool lighting and the cute little nooks throughout. These two lovers got to spend quality time together, perusing the books with the store essentially to ourselves while capturing some beautiful new photos for them to have as a keepsake of their engagement.

This session was not only so much fun to put together but it was a great learning experience for me as an Atlanta photographer: the weather is no barrier to great photos…just get creative. Enjoy!!!
