Pasadena City Hall Elopement

As a southern California elopement photographer, I get a lot of requests for many of our incredible outdoor spaces. And while the great outdoors will always call my name, there is something just so fun about an urban elopement. So when Katie and Blake reached out about wanting to get married at Pasadena City Hall, I was stoked!

When we first spoke, Katie and Blake let me know that they had a big, destination wedding planned in Italy for later that summer but wanted to legally get married in the states to avoid the complications of doing so overseas. Additionally, Katie wanted to make sure her grandmother could witness this special moment, as she wouldn’t be able to travel to Italy because of how long and demanding the trek is. I was thrilled to help these two awesome people make their little intimate wedding completely rock and document every minute of it!

From the chats I had with the two of them, I knew they were going to have an amazing elopement and that we would have a blast together. When Katie casually mentioned taking photos in sunglasses, I thought “love that vibe” and was even more excited. Then, she hit me with three words the day before their elopement and I hit maximum excitement and stoke: SATIN PANT SUIT.

With stoke level high, we met up mid-morning at Pasadena City Hall for their elopement along with their parents, Katie’s grandmother, their officiant Mark, and their fur babies, Zeus and Pesto. Even on the hottest day of the spring, both Katie and Blake looked straight off the runway and were excited for this momentous day. They had a sweet ceremony under a beautiful oak tree in the courtyard and excitedly said “I do”. We followed this with some family portraits and made sure to get a couple with their officiant, who happened to be celebrating his 75th wedding that day!

After family portraits, I hung around with Katie and Blake to explore city hall and get some fun photos in all the cool little spots this location has to offer. We laughed, they kissed, and I shot frame after frame of pure love. Once the sun was high and the heat too much to bear, we hopped in our cars to meet their families at the restaurant, Saso, for lunch. I grabbed some photos of their details, their adorable cake, and their champagne toast. Before it was time to head out, we stepped outside for a few final photos with Katie in her new “Mrs. Taylor” jacket that a friend had made her. We stumbled across some super cool, colorful walls that just screamed for us to take some photos. It was a perfect way to end their amazing city hall elopement morning and a day that I won’t soon forget!
